We are trying to choose between 2 tour companies (Troll and NICE Travel), and between several day tours. We will have time on our schedule for 2 day tours plus time in Reykjavik, and are trying to choose between these 3 areas - Golden Circle, South Coast or Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Any help anyone could give us in settling on a tour company and on the 2 areas to visit would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim S., Chicago

We have used Troll a number of times for excursions that required a guide. They are excellent, and I highly recommend them. I have heard very good things about Nice from several friends, but just have no personal experience with them, FWIW.
As for the tours themselves, I would skip the Golden Circle. Snaefellsness and south coast are much more impressive, IME. The south coast gets really busy, but Snaefellsness still has the wow factor with far fewer people. It is known as mini Iceland in that you see so much variety in a smaller area.
The GC is fine, we did that on our first trip, but also had no idea of anything else to do. Granted, that was 10 years ago too so before tourism really took off. I just don't think it compares at all to Snaefellsness or south coast.

I did both, South Coast one day and Golden Circle the next, with the tour ending at Secret Lagoon as part of the tour price.
If you could only pick one, then do the South Coast. It has the most impressive scenery, with the beaches and puffins, glaciers, etc.
