Cell signal in Iceland

I will spend about a week in Iceland in July, mostly around the west and south coast area. I have T-Mobile as my cell carrier. My experience with T-Mobile is that the signal strength in rural and wilderness areas (even in the US) tends to be very spotty. Just wondering what others with T-Mobile have experienced in Iceland. Does anyone have any tips on how to get reliable cell signal while traveling in Iceland? Thank you.

Best,
Mei

We had no issues with TMobile service in Iceland last fall, and the hotels had wifi as well. We traveled in the south and up the western coast up to the northern side with no noticeable service issues. Enjoy your trip - it's a beautiful country!

Also a TMobile user. Have been to Iceland twice. The only time I had issues with cell service was when we ventured off the main road to do a glacier hike. Out on the glacier we had no service. Otherwise I used it for GPS and to stream music with no issues at all.

I just returned from Iceland and had no problems with T-Mobile. I don't recall any lack of signal in Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, the Snaefelsness Penninsula, Isafjordur, Akureyri, or around Lake Myvatn.

Thanks, Dick. We will be going to many of the areas you mentioned. Good to know there are no issues with cell signals.

Everyone else has covered the T-Mobile answer, but I just thought I would comment that in all of our trips our AT&T and Verizon phones have not had any issues in case people were wondering about those. We have spent over 60 nights in Iceland so far, and never an issue with coverage.
