Celebrity Cruise 7 day - iceland. Ports - Seydisfjordur, Akureyri, Isafjordur,

Planning on booking this cruise that starts at Reykjavik port and ends there as well. We are going to stop 7:00 am - 6:00 pm (11 hours) at Seydisfjodur, overnight at Akureyri from 8:00 am to 7:00 PM next day evening (about 35 hours), Isafjordur about (9 hours). Has anyone done this cruise? Any recommendations on excursions especially on our overnight stay? This will be from July 25- Aug1. We also have a 3 year old and a 4 year old with us. Planning on spending first 24 hours in Reykjavik before embarking. So any recommendations for that would also be helpful!

If you are booking this to see Iceland, I would not recommend it. If you want to cruise and stopping is a bonus, then that works.

Seydisfjordur is tiny and easily done on foot. In Akureyri you have plenty of time to rent a car and go sightsee. Take a drive around the Tollaskagi Peninsula and hit one of the hot springs. Isafjordur is tiny as well, and easily done on foot, but if you want to get out and see more then rent a car. There is a waterfall by the campground that is nice and the kids would enjoy. Dynjandi is the usual stop, which its great and the kids would be fine for some of the lower falls. The arctic fox center is not far from there, about a 20 minute drive. There are only a couple arctic foxes there, but the museum is very good and some of it the kids might enjoy. You could also head the other direction over to Osvor and see the maritime museum. It is a replica of a fishing area and you can go inside the fish drying building, etc. The kids would like this as it is more hands on.

Libra, you may find some use in this TR:

Note that Dynjandi is not “close” to the cruise port, and while the foot trail does not require mountaineering experience, it can be long, soggy, and slippery in spots. It is not suitable for 3 and 4 year olds. It is important not to treat Iceland like an American national park. Please read that last sentence angain. Our ship bus to Dynjandi encountered a snowstorm on the way, in early July!
