Buses to thorsmork

I’m interested in catching the bus ( total 3 people) at hvollsvolur to the lava huts to do the hike. How soon do spots fill up— would it be safe to make a 24 hour decision based on weather or should we book further in advance ( this would be in late June

Those are the volcano huts, not lava huts. The buses to get there fill up far in advance. I booked ours months in advance and when we were there the buses in and out were both full.
