Does someone have direct experience with renting a car from Budget at Keflavik airport ? My particular areas of interest are (a) quality of the cars, (b) time to get to the pickup / dropoff locations from the terminal proper, and (c) their full insurance package versus obtaining your own car rental insurance [eg, from Allianz] ? Thanks in advance !

We have always rented from Blue so I can’t help with them. That said, even Blue dropped the ball on one of our rentals and the car was a POS. So no matter who you rent through, if the car is not up to par, refuse it. We should have but didn’t and I regretted it.
We always opt for full insurance in Iceland because there are so many unique factors there that cause damage. I don’t want to use our Amex insurance because then you are in the hook for damages until they reimburse you. I want to walk away if anything should happen. Insurance in Iceland is expensive but for us, it is non negotiable.

We, too, have always rented from Blue and we get their full insurance. They are a five minute walk from the terminal, although we took their shuttle the first time because we didn't know where they were.
