Breakfast in Keflavik

Hi there
We will be landing in Keflavik around 9 am and then renting a car. We are then driving to the blue lagoon and would like to have breakfast beforehand in keflavik or on route to the blue lagoon. Any suggestions on a sit down place to eat?
thank you!

I was startled to find that some dining there was restricted to arriving and some to departing passengers. We were actually sent away from one very basic "walk-up" counter because we could not present an active boarding pass. There is certainly a modest cafe at Blue Lagoon. Because we did not buy entry, I can't comment on (likely) additional options within the Blue Lagoon product. Most pools in Iceland seem to have at least a snack bar, and some plenty of food available.

But it sounds like you mainly mean "at the airport."

Thank you for your response.. I meant in a restaurant out of the airport so I updated my original post.

There are some places to grab breakfast in Keflavik town. Check out Kokulist bakery; it gets mentioned a lot.

Kokulist is our go to for after our early morning arrivals. It’s not a place for bacon and eggs type of breakfast but their pastries and coffee are good and it opens before all the other places do.

I tease my husband that I would go back to Reykjavik just for the pastries at Braud & Co. just down the street from the Hallgrimskirkja Church. They have the best pastries I have had anywhere.

I know this is going to sound weird, but the Courtyard just outside the airport had an amazing breakfast. It is a paid breakfast, so I am sure they would let people eat there who are not staying at the hotel. There are also two grocery stores right by the Courtyard if you just wanted to buy something cheap to eat like bakery pastries. I know some people are recommending eating in Reykjavík, but that is quite a ways from the airport, and is out of the way for the Blue Lagoon.
