Blue Lagoon vs. Sky Lagoon: Which One Should You Visit?

We are doing 2 day stopover on Monday 2/23 and Tuesday 2/24.

thinking about doing one day tour that includes Golden Circle and either Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon.

which would you pick for 2 - 60 year old adults that like to swim and hike? Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon.

been reading some online info but curious from someone that has actually visited

We were just in Iceland December 5. Do the Sky Lagoon. Blue lagoon is way too crowded. We were on a tour and the local guide said that the locals never go to the Blue Lagoon., the recent volcano eruption has made the Blue Lagoon not as safe now. The Sky Lagoon was wonderful.

We visited Sky Lagoon last year (Blue Lagoon was closed due to volcanic activity) and found it to be very enjoyable and nowhere near as crowded as pictures make Blue Lagoon look. We did the full package that included the dry sauna with the amazing view over the water and several other treatments, including a salt scrub and it was a lovely experience. I heard the same comments from our tour guide about the locals not going near Blue Lagoon because it's predominately tourists. You won't go wrong at Sky!

We have been to both a number of times. IME you can’t go wrong with either. I recommend doing whichever fits into your itinerary the best

There are several other options as well. In the Golden Circle there is Secret Lagoon,
and the brand new Laugaras. We have also been to Secret and Fontana (under renovation currently)and will go to Laugaras on our upcoming trip so I can report back after that. There is also Hvammsvik which is about 45 minutes north of Reykjavik. In all of our trips, this one is our favorite, FWIW.

I have done both in May and they were equally crowded. Sky Lagoon is much closer to Reykjavik, so less time traveling to it. We really enjoyed the 7-step ritual at Sky Lagoon, and the view over the ocean from the lagoon and sauna is stunning. However, the Blue Lagoon was very interesting and beautiful. You can't go wrong with either!

I did the Golden Circle tour that ended at the Sky Lagoon which was fantastic. The 7 step ritual was great and the eternity pool that looks out over the ocean is beautiful. Take your camera. Then a short ride home in a taxi where I could fall into bed. Haven't been to the Blue Lagoon, but it is farther away and looks like a totally different kind of experience.

I’ve only been to the Blue Lagoon. It wasn’t too busy when I was there and we loved the experience. It’s absolutely massive and where else on earth can you wallow around in an enormous very hot pool? Also they allow children which Sky Lagoon doesn’t.
