We arrive in Reykjavik at 8:30 am on a Monday. How much time will it take to go thru the airport and actually be ready to go to our airbnb? What is the best method for getting transport? The airbnb is 'centrally' located. It is Ranargata 8.
We are usually out of KEF in less than 30 minutes, often less. Fly Bus is popular and is fine. It runs about $37 pp each way. The drawback to it is you go to the central bus terminal and then swap to a smaller bus that will take you to a bus stop closer to your lodging. So it can take a while. We usually rent a car and self drive. We have fine tacos though and those usually run around $150. Last eeek it ran us $180 but there was a bit event going on with many closed roads so it took much longer.
Joe—that would some stupid auto correct combined with my jet lag since I just got home from Iceland about an hour ago. $150 is the usual ballpark rate from KEF I to downtown Reykjavik.
Btw a bit of grace would be appreciated
I would also suggest taking the Flybus to the central bus station. But from there, just take a taxi. Your airbnb is only a couple of kilometers from the bus station.
No need to pre-buy a ticket for the Flybus. Just get a ticket when you arrive and get on the next available bus.If that bus fills, they bring up another bus.
It's about a 45 minute drive from the airport to Reykjavik.
You will need to make a reservation for the return trip to the airport.
