Advice on a few locations for Mid Sept Trip - Gjain and Hrunalaug Hot Spring

We are headed to Iceland mid September. There are 2 places I would love some feedback on.

** Gjain - I would love to visit this area but I have read so much mixed information on the drive. I read somewhere you have to drive over streams of water. Is this correct? Is it better (safer) to park at Strong and hike to the waterfall? We do have a 4x4 reserved. Any information or tips you could share on this location would be greatly appreciated.

** Hrunalaug Hot Springs - We are visiting 2 of the commercial springs during our trip. We would also love to visit a more natural setting spring. I am reading a lot of mixed feedback on this one but it looks like such a unique spot. Is there anyone who has been there recently and has some advice/information?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Did both of these last September. Te road into Gksinid tough, and I’m not talking about the road into that is 4x4 only. We had one tiny water crossing. It’s not a difficult road but you need to extremely slow.

Hrunalaug and s nice but very tiny. There are two hits to change there, one for women the other for men. No lockers etc.

If roads are bad then I would skip both of these. September weather can be anything so play it by ear.
