A few more notes

in Husevik, after my husband ordered his latte, I inquired about a chai tea latte at the bakery/cafe. The woman at the counter told me they did not have that, stating "this is a normal bakery/cafe". I got a good laugh out of that. I guess I was just one of those Americans wanting a fancy drink.
We had rainy, windy days and sunny days too. We are "slow" travelers so we were able to schedule our "down time" days on the rainy days. There were a few times when I could have used one more layer (perhaps a vest or another light pullover) under my rain jacket. Gloves and hat were regularly worn.
It was a pleasure to drive on the main roads; no billboards, no trashy roadsides, no trashy residences were seen. I was a bit surprised at encountering some one-lane bridges on main roads. That must get a bit dicey in peak travel season. I never drove at night - might have been a bit challenging unless you know exactly where you are going but generally everything is well sign-posted. I do always study the map and make some notes before heading out to a new place. The GPS in the car was helpful as well.
We needed reservations at some restaurants in Reykjavik and the Golden Circle area. The BBQ lamb wrap and mushroom ice cream at the mushroom farm in Fludir were yummy. Loved the wine bar restaurant at the tomato farm in Fridheimar (Golden Circle) - no reservation needed. Limited menu but food was fresh and tasty. Delicious baked goods at the bakeries (our weakness!).
A great trip! Yes, it's pricey there but our attitude is that we just earned a ton of frequent flyer miles by using our no-fee credit card. Each trip helps fund the next one!

The one lane bridges are pretty easy. The one lane tunnels are trickier when you have someone that did not research and is not following protocol though! Fridheimer its good, we are headed back there again next week.

They aren't bad, as they have a pull off so when you see headlights and if the other direction has right of way, you just pull over. But you really have to be alert! I remember the first time in one, I was terrified and I wasn't even driving.
