We are arriving back to Reykjavik on a cruise ship in June and are staying overnight to ensure we catch our morning flight. Our flight is at 9:00 am and I have been reading that we should give ourselves lots of time at the airport, so we have booked a hotel in Keflavik, rather than Reykjavik to save time in the morning.
I have been reading about things to do in Keflavik and have found museums and some hiking, but wondering if anyone has other suggestions. Any ideas will be appreciated.
Really not a lot going on there. when we stayed pre-Covid, did a lot of hiking and think there was only one place to have dinner.
Will you have a car? That would make a huge difference, even if you rent it just for the day. If you do that, head to the Reykjanes Peninsula as there is a lot to see there and it is not far from KEF.
We had a good meal at the Library Bistro. And, just walking around I found a great hot dog pop-up truck.
There's the Giantess in the Mountain, which is a nice little stroll along the waterfront.
How are you planning to get from Reykjavik to Keflavik to the airport? I suggest that you rent a car, because taxis are ridiculously expensive. Even though Keflavik is 5 km from the airport, the taxi fare was nearly $30 US one way!
