7 day South Iceland Itinerary

Hi everyone,

Looking for your expertise on a 7 day Iceland itinerary, our flight arrives early in the morning (5am) from North America. We are going at the end of May for our first trip and expecting there to be daylight for roughly 18-20 hrs per day to see the sights. Ps: please forgive my spelling of the sights!

Day 1 (5am start) - Seltun Geothermal area, Kleifarvatn, Reykjavik (lunch), then head towards Snaefellsnes (stay overnight around here or Grundarfjorour)
Day 2 - Drive Golden Circle (overnight around Hella area)
Day 3 - Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Solheimsandur, Dyrholaey, Kirkjufjara (overnight Vik area)
Day 4 - Eldhraun, Fjaðrárgljúfur, Skaftarstofa (overnight Kalfafell area)
Day 5 - Svartifoss, Svinafellsjokul, Skaftafellsjokul (overnight Hof area)
Day 6 - Fjallsarlon, Jokulsarlon (drive and overnight somewhere)
Day 7 - Drive to Blue Lagoon (flight back in the afternoon)

Thoughts? I know it's a bit crammed, but there's two drivers and we are pretty young/active. Also, I'm wondering if there would be time to do a glacier hike somewhere in there? Though not sure what the weather is like at the end of May and if the glacier hike is worth it.

Thanks in advance!
Kevin

For days 3-6 pick one place to stay. Vik would be good, if there is availability. There may not be.

I really enjoyed my glacier hike from Skaftafell but as a tradeoff we didn't see Svartifoss. Didn't want to do back-to-back hikes plus we had a TON packed in that day. So much to see on that south coast. Plus we stopped at literally anything interesting on the road. If we saw a car pulled over, we'd pull over too.

Besides the big waterfalls, check out some of the less-known ones. There are others near Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss that you can have all to yourselves.

I was there last early June and the weather was really nice. We hiked the glacier in short sleeves.

I would consider reversing your trip. You might be surprised at the things you can do in/around HOF/Jokulsarlon rather than Snaefellsnes peninsula. Aside from walking the glacier there is the boat rental that takes you alongside icebergs in the Hof area. Some of your itinerary are places we've not been - so can't comment - but at least if you go to Hof first and love it - missing Snaefellsnes won't be as disappointing (by the way, we enjoyed the peninsula - barren - hardly anyone there! Had a great meal in Stykkisholmur).
Just my opinion -

I wonder how the 7 day trip went. I did a very similar itinerary from May 31st through June 5. It was great.
