5 full days Iceland

Hello!

My son (11yrs old), my husband and I will be traveling to Iceland next month in July and I was wondering if it’s better to do a multi days tour or day trips from the capital? I have a multi days tour tentatively booked just in case, but not sure if it’s the best option. Is our first time in Iceland with not that manyyyy days (5 total full days in Iceland) and I want to make the best out of it and see as much as possible.

Recommendations on great tour operators is much appreciated.

Is it super worth it to visit Snæfellsnes? Just curious.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Anne

You are smart to look at tours since this is such a last minute trip. Yes, do a multi day tour! If you are flying in from the US or another location that is far away, keep the arrival day to Reykjavik and stay there that night, then start in with tours the next morning. A good introduction to the country would be a south coast and Snaefellsness combo tour. I really like www.troll.is as an operator. We have used them many times for excursions such as glacier hikes etc that we need a guide for. We did try to do a 2 day tour with them one winter, but a storm was rolling in so the 2nd day was cancelled last minute. They were fabulous with how they handled it, and that won me over. They processed the refund immediately, and they crammed in as much as possible in the one day, while staying abreast of the weather/road conditions to keep us all safe. Communication with them was excellent. They do have a 4 day combo tour that would work well with your time frame.
