4 days in June

I have booked a 4-day layover in Iceland for June, arriving 9am Sunday June 8 from the US and leaving 7:20am on Thursday June 12 for Munich. I found a site that would let me book car and hotel for one price for the entire 4 days with a suggested itinerary, but I could do it cheaper on my own. Here's their itinerary. Day 2 seems short and day 3 seems long, could I do some of the day 3 stuff on day 2 and maybe spend the night of day 2 in Vik, and then do the rest on day 3 with anything I missed on day 4? I know what Google Maps says the drive time is, but I don't have a feel for how long sightseeing will take. I know it will be light super-late in June.

  • Day 1: Arrive KEF, stop at the Blue Lagoon on the way to Reykjavik, spend the day there and spend the night there.
  • Day 2: Drive the Golden Circle, then either check into a hotel in the area or drive all the way down to Vik.
  • Day 3: Drive the South Coast, with stops at Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Reynisfjara black sand beach, Vik, Skaftafell Nature Reserve & Vatnajokull glacier, Svartifoss waterfall, and Diamond Beach
  • Day 4: Drive back to Reykjavik, with stops at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Fjadrargljufur canyon, Dyrholaey and anything I missed from yesterday. Then with my early flight on day 5, I'd probably spend the night near KEF and get up early the next morning for a 7:20am flight out to Munich.

I've mapped it out and I think this is a reasonably good order of things (but it'll just be me so I can detour to something else if I want, and spend as much or as little time as I want somewhere) but I don't know where to put the nights, so that's my request for help. And is there anything missing from this list?

Four days is super short, but doable. Just know you will be rushing to see things:). Day 1 looks great, day 2 I would seep in Vik so as to make the next days drive shorter. Day 3 looks good, but I would add in a boat tour on Jokulsarlon if that interests you. Where do you plan to stay that night? We have done the zodiac tour there a couple of times and it is excellent! From there back to Reykjavik will be a good almost 6 hours without stops, so a longish day, but you have lots of daylight that time of year. There is no reason to go back to Reykjavik though really since you wouldn't arrive until evening, so basically dinner and bed. If you stay near the airport, you can return your rental car the night before and then stay at the Aurora Hotel which is a 5 minute walk to the terminal. At Skogafoss, do not miss Kvernufoss, which is about 5 minutes from there off the same road off of route 1. The museum there is excellent as well, especially the outdoor area of it.
