36 hours in Reykjavík: NYT gifted article

For anyone with a quick layover in Reykjavík, you might be interested in this article published by the New York Times this morning. It lists a number of things to do and see in the city within a short time.

It does not go into some of the tours and expeditions you can take, like the Golden Circle tour, but it does give a pretty comprehensive look at the city, I think. Article is unlocked. 36 Hours in Reykjavík

Mardee--I admit, when I opened the article I was waiting for yet another one with misinformation etc. but was happy to see it very well thought out! If anyone is taking notes on the article for a future trip, if you go to Omnom, keep going down the wharf and walk up Pufa for views of the city and you will most certainly have it to yourself. There is a fish drying rack on top. It is a small hill with a circular walk to get up top, sometimes the "trail" is very narrow and true to Iceland style, no ropes or handrails, so ti is best to not try to look around until you are up top. Hvammsvik is hands down our favorite commercial hot spring! It is killing me that I could not fit it in for our trip in a few weeks, but we have several others on tap in the north. Skal! and the Sea Baron are very different, but both are so good. I would encourage people to take the Citywalk "free" talking tour on the day of arrival since you learn so much about the city/country. A food tour is also great for a short trip like this. Anyway, thank you for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this article! We depart from SF in 10 days for a 3-week trip around the Ring Road, following a few days in Reykjavik. Our friends have never been there, so we are excited for them as well as us, completing the Ring Road to the east and south. All was white and icy on our last visit - I'm looking forward to green and a bit warmer weather this time around.
