22 Nights on Ring Road - Help With Itinerary

We are spending 22 nights on the ring road, and we would like to stay multiple nights in as many places as possible without having terribly long drives in between. Are there places in our itinerary that we could combine for better home bases? I'm concerned that this is too many places to stay. Where is your favorite town for a home base in the Skagafjordur countryside: Here is our itinerary:

2 nights Reykjavik
2 nights Burdardalur
1 night Varmahlio
2 nights Siglufjordur
3 nights Myvatn
3 nights Seydisfjordur
2 nights Djupivogur
3 nights Hofn
1 night Vik
2 nights Hvolsvollur
1 night Reykjavik

Overall it looks pretty good, IMO. A couple of notes though. You are missing the Snaefellsness Peninsula entirely and IMO that is not to be missed. You can do it in a day, so I would take a night from somewhere else and add that in. Also, Djupivogur to Hofn is a short drive, so you might want to push further to say Hof or so.

We took your advice, and we are now staying 3 nights in Stykkisholmur (instead of Burdardalur), so we can visit the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. We also eliminated 2 nights in Djupivogur. We rearranged our itinerary, so we are now staying in fewer places for 3 nights each. Thank you for your suggestions.

Glad to help:) You are fortunate to have so much time! Our ring road trip was 12 days, which was nice, but we were o the go the entire time. If you need suggestions for any of these areas, just ask:)

What do you plan for three nights in Seydisfjordur? It's a cute very small town for a quick visit, in my opinion. It's up and over a mountain on a winding road from the Ring Road.

We stayed two nights in Egilsstadir. From there it's easy to go to Vök Baths, Hallormsstaður Forest, and Hengifoss.

naalehuretiree, they are staying 3 nights in Stikkisholmur, not Seydisfjordur;) Plenty to do on Snaefellsness for 3 nights!

We did a Ring Road tour in 8 days, can't imagine spending 22 days.
Why 22 days and what do you plan to do there?

8 days is a really really fast trip around the Ring Road. We've spent 14 days on two different trips and feel like we just barely scratched the surface. Might go back some day, but there are so many other places to go to in the world!

I agree, 8 days is really really fast. We had 12 for our ring road trip and felt that that was rushed. We still got to do some fun things, but definitely had to pass on so much. We have been 4 times so far with a 5th trip this summer, and that one will be for 17 days, There will still be much more that we are missing on that trip as well.
