11 hour layover in Reykjavik

We're arriving at KEF airport at 9:55 am on 8/27 and will be flying out at 9:10 pm on the same day. We plan on spending the day at the Blue Lagoon. I'm getting ready to make a reservation for the bus transportion from/to the airport and the entry to the Blue Lagoon. I'm choosing a bus departure of 11 am, since I don't think it'll take us 5 minutes to get on the bus from the plane even though we don't have any check-in luggage. So I'm looking at a 12 pm entry time to the BL. Do they have storage for carry-on luggages and our day backpacks? How much are the fees? I don't see that information on the website. As for the departure time, I need some advice. Do we have check in 2 or 3 hours before our flight? What's an ideal time to leave BL? Buses leave every hour at 4:15 pm, 5:15 pm and so forth. Thank you.

Yes they have lockers for luggage as you go into the dressing room. I don’t remember if/what you had to pay. Expect it to be expensive if you do have to pay!

I would be at the airport 3 hours early personally since i wouldn’t want to miss the flight. If you are on wow or Icelandair everyone says leave a lot of time! We are actually driving to the airport now! We are in united though and it’s the morning..,

Have fun!

Thank you for your response. We're taking Wow. So do we have to be there at 5 pm, which is 4 hrs before our flight?

Well we checked in this morning, flight was at 10:30am. They didn't open the check in desk until 2 hours prior (my husband had a different flight at 11:55 and ended up waiting quite awhile to check in and go through security)... I didn;t see the WOW line, but Wizz air had a super long line! I would guess arriving 3 hours early is plenty and watch for check in to open. Unless you can check in at kiosk or online (I didn;t have my confirmation number and could not).

Security was super fast, not sure it is always that way though.

We wanted to visit the Blue Lagoon before we head back to the States. The 11 hour layover was intentional. I booked all of our flights directly with the airline companies. 😊

It looks as if the entry price for a basic ticket is about $100 Canadian pp..
That's a basic ticket with no transport from the airport.

Approximately how long will it take for non-EU citizens to go through Passport Control? We're arriving at 9:55 am and will be taking the 11:30 am bus for a 12 am entry to Blue Lagoon. Do U.S. citizens need visas to Iceland? Thanks.

From July 2017 to present I have pass port in Reykiavek 3 times on Wow arriving or departing to Chicago ; it goes pretty fast but like all other airports depends on how many flights arrive at the same time as yours; compare to most international ports in the west the people manning those in Iceland are the least blase or lethargic about the process,

We just returned from Iceland. As a US citizen it took us maybe 15 minutes to get through passport control - officials are very efficient. It is a very quick ride from BL to KEF about 20 minutes. And there's no reason to arrive 4 hours early as someone mentioned! It's a small airport 2-3 hours prior to your flight is plenty of time. Enjoy BL! Worth every penny!
