Hotel Recommendations in Reykjavik

My husband and I are planning on staying several days in Reykjavik and are looking for hotel recommendations in downtown Reykjavik.

Hotels can be very expensive in the downtown area and vary by season. You'll
probably get more helpful answers if you mention the time of year you're going
and what price range you are hoping to pay.

I am a fan of booking.com. Good site to do research and then you can book with them if you so desire or go directly to the hotel site.

There is an Iceland section on this Forum. I think that it will be very helpful to you. You can read the questions and the answers. Go to Destination Q&A and you can see for yourself what comes next.

I had a cruise booked from Amsterdam to Reykjavik but it fell through. I was in this forum about hotels in Reykjavik and got a lot of helpful information.

I am attaching a link to one of my questions about hotels in Iceland and the many helpful answers that I got.

I've stayed at the Canopy by Hilton a few times. Very nice. But can get noisy from the many clubs in the area.

Last year, I switched to the Center Hotels Laugavegur. Very nice. Much quieter.

I stayed at three different hotels in Reykjavík last summer. My favorite was Sand Hotel by KEA Hotels, Laugavegur 34, 101 Reykjavik, Iceland. The above location was outstanding and centrally located.

A second hotel that I stayed at was Center Hotels Plaza, Adalstraeti 4, 101 Reykjavik, This establishment was located in the wharf and opera house area. It was a great change allowing easy access to a different neighborhood. This was not centrally located but an easy walk to the center.

We stayed at Skuggi Hotel. It was quiet and the staff there were really nice.

Hotels that we have stayed at in Reykjavik include Hotel Fron, Center Hotel Laugarvatn, 4th Floor Hotel, and Center Hotel Midgardur. Each of these fit our needs and were comfy etc. I would not hesitate to stay at any of them again, FWIW.
