Our daughter is into Twilight and vampires. There seem to be several tour options in Budapest. Did anyone go on a really fun one there or somewhere else?

Im going to follow this one. I will learn with you. Best i know is Vlad III: Prince of Wallachia spent some time imprisoned in Buda Castle. Yeah! With just a few weeks to go, I'm hoping someone comes through for us. I only saw one tour on line and not sure what to make of it. Will let you know if we happen to come upon a one! 🤭🧛🏼🦇😁

King Matthias Corvinus had Vlad (Dracula) arrested in late 1462 and kept him in captivity at Visegrád Castle from 1463 to around 1475. Visegrad castle still stands and it is one of the popular Danube Bend day trip stops out of Budapest. Apparently Vlad spent some time under house arrest in Pest as well.

Definitely go to Romania if you're interested in vampires. There's a lot of stuff there, especially if you've read the original book by Bram Stoker.

Stoker stole the name Dracula and maybe his ability to terrorize, from the 15th century Vlad III.
Vlad III was ethnically Romanian (Wallachia) but was born in Sighisoara, Transylvania-Hungary because his father had been exiled from his home in Wallachia. The house in Sighisoara is still there. Beyond Dracula (or Vlad III) it’s a fantastic town to visit. The character in the book was from Eastern Transylvanian and identified in the book as an ethnic Hungarian.
Dracula was set in Hungarian Transylvania. Bran Caste in Transylvania is often marketed as Dracula’s Castle, but Vlad III never lived and probably never visited the castle; and Bran Castle is never mentioned in the novel either. Vlad III lived and ruled from a castle in Romanian Wallachia.
Its all fun and I could spend a week chasing Dracula stories across Transylvania.
