Traveling from Hungary to Slovakia

We will be driving from Budapest, through Eger, then to Kosice and into more of Slovakia. For those who may have been through there, are Eger (Hungary) and Kosice (Slovakia) places that we should spend a day each, or would you just drive through and get further into Slovakia? We have 5 days after Budapest before we will be going to Krakow. We plan to see some wooden churches in Slovakia, then go to Spis Castle, and to Strbske Pleso for sure. There are so many things to see in that area. Which places would you recommend? Thank you for any suggestions.

Banska Bystrica and Banská Štiavnica are worth the time and so is Štrbské Pleso and the surrounding resort areas. Then google castles of slovakia and discover that slovakia has castles as magnificient as any in Europe. Each of those is a good visit.

Forgot, on the way to Kosice stop at Lillafüred for a night or two. https://www.hellomiskolc.hu/portal_page.php?pageID=233&language=en

I quite liked Kosice, but my tastes are odd. It has some nice architecture and the very good, English-accessible Museum of the Victims of Communism, where I spent multiple hours. That museum is great for a Cold War junkie like me. I didn't find an equivalent exhibition in Bratislava, which was a surprise.

Thank you for your replies and your suggestions. Sorry, I don't know how to respond to individual people. I'll have to figure that out again. I'll definitely check on the two Banska places you recommend.

If you are into wineries and vineyards, Eger 3 days.

We aren't while we are on a trip with lots of places to go. We'll stick with the one day for Eger. Thanks!

On your route is Lillafüred, which you might enjoy more than Eger. Think castle (sort of), caves, water falls, forest narrow gouge train trips, carpsthian foot hills, lake,
