My friends and I have booked an Amsterdam to Budapest river cruise, after which we plan to do the Cinque Terre walk in Northern Italy (North to South). Does anyone have any tips on the cheapest way to get there please?
You're choosing to go to Cinque Terre will require you to fly budget air carrier Ryanair from Budapest into Pisa. (Travel light.)
You'll have to take a local train in the Pisa Airport to the downtown Pisa train station. There you'll catch a train north 47 miles to La Spezia.
You'll catch a local train in La Spezia for the short ride north into the Cinque Terre.
Just make sure you have reservations in the C/T.
Probably not the cheapest, but both Alitalia and Lufthansa offer one-stop flights from Budapest to Pisa.
Thankyou both for those suggestions. We'll keep them both in mind when making final preparations.
Certainly if the CT is something you want to see, then you should do it. But, do one last reality check first. There are numerous charming and beautiful places in Central and Eastern Europe that wont steal a full day of air travel and the cost of the air travel to see. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/is-cinque-terre-the-new-quot-disneyland-quot
Wizz Air flies from Budapest to Pisa. It is a Hungarian budget airline and I flew them 2 years ago and thought they were great.
Let me correct myself. Pisa fliers right now must take a bus to the main train station. They're doing work on the train system from the airport into the Pisa train station right now.
