Hi all, We are arriving Budapest December 4, late afternoon and will need transportation to Hotel President Budapest. We will have been traveling from the west coast and will be tired, so easier is better. Just 2 of us, any thoughts on catching a taxi or arranging in advance?
Thanks!
No real need to arrange in advance. This advice still works - I used it in September. Even if there’s a line, it moves fast.

Instead of writing down the address, though, I usually have it pulled up on Google Maps on my phone to show the scheduler.
Edit: if your room has a view of the roof of the Postal Savings Bank, I want to come visit you. Also Artizan Bakery, next door, has amazing pastries.
What a great hotel choice. Do write a report. This is one of the hotels that makes me unhappy that I live here .... otherwise I would have checked in myself by now. And you arent too far from the Christmas Markets, so for the season its good too.
Sure, the taxis are good, reasonalble cost (half of most major cities), the drivers generally very polite and suprisingly well dressed, well regulated and honest. Do not forget to get a travelcard or pass. You can do the BudapestGo App version or buy them at the BKK office in the arrivals hall of the airport.

And before anyone points out that there is a bus from the airport that is very inexpensive, its a long haul from the stop at Deak Ferenc ter to your hotel ... with bags in tow.
TexasTravelMom, so the prices for the taxi from 2022 seem extremely cheap to me….anyone have an update as to what it could be currently? When I used my currency converter app it gave me only about $3.00 for the taxi to the city?
Charges will be under 12.000 ft.
$31.84 at 1 USD = 376.8 HUF
Mark has it right. I think you missed typing in a zero.
At the end of September, on my last trip from the airport to the center of the city, the price was still about 11,500 ft. It hasn’t changed much in the last couple of years.
Depends on where you go in town. But to most of the areas people are likely to stay in Pest, yup, 12.000 will cover it. And, yup, about $32.00. Great rates are right now. Has gone from below 350 to above 375 in just a few months.
My last experience was about a month ago, from the Opera House. It was under 12.000, but I let him keep the change.
Ohhhhh, just figured out why you got $3, I think. Here the period and comma are reversed in their use. So, twelve thousand forints is expressed as 12.000 ft. You put that in a US calculator and you get $3. So, for you it's 12,000 ft from the airport.
