We are going from Ljubljana to Budapest in September. We enjoy riding the trains. Any pro's or con's to riding the train between these cities. We are thinking it would be a kick back day on the train and allow us to see some of the countryside.

There is a direct train at 9:08 getting in to Budapest Deli at 17:29. 8 1/2 hours to kick back.

I would have no problem with that train. Bring your own food and beverage as there may not be any onboard, or only a very minimal snack cart wheeled through.
