Train from Budapest to Prague

we will be in Budapest the first part of Oct, does anyone have any info on if taking the train would be a nightmare or if we should try the bus or fly? Also, we will be in Slovenia as well and Austria. I know Bean shuttle is a great option from getting from Prague to Salzburg and private transfers to the rest but I'm mainly worried about getting from Budapest to Prague right now.
Any info would be amazing.
Thanks,

I assume you're asking based on recent migrant news, which is unpredictable. Normally, it's a perfectly pleasant, direct, 7-hour train ride, via Slovakia, not Austria.

yes, sorry. I'm asking because of the migrant issues happening right now. I just don't want to get in the way or get in the middle of something I can't get out of.
I plan on taking shuttles for the rest of the trip through the Czech Republic and Austria and down through Slovenia but I'm only worried about the train from Keleti station to Prague.

It's a 7 hour train or about an hour by plane. Migrants or no migrants I would fly non stop on Czech Air. 7 hours greatly exceeds my tolerance for any train. As for migrants there is absolutely no way to predict what will happen tomorrow, much less in October.

My educated guess is that you should be OK with train from Budapest to Prague since Hungarians finally sealed the border with Serbia. Anyway migrants did not like that route because Czechs were taking them off train in Breclav (first station in C.R.) to process them. Or you can fly as James suggests, especially if it's direct nonstop flight and price is reasonable.
