Tour Guides in Budapest and in Hungary

I really dont have a good handle on tourgudies in Budapest or Hungary. So, if anyone has had good experiences why dont you do a little report on them here so others will have some options.

The only one that I know that I could recommend is Lucia GERARD, who is a good guide for Hungary’s vineyards and wine culture. WhatsApp +33 6 2217 5616 [email protected]

We booked and enjoyed a "free" tour from GoZeppelin (link below). Two hours, and you pay what you think it's worth. Guide was wonderful (I cannot find her name in my notes :( but she said she was one of 18 guides working for the company). Great insider info, not too many people, about 20-25. She spoke clearly and loud enough for all to hear, and was happy to answer any questions. Would do this again! Note: also bookable through GuruWalk.

Thank you Joan. Its a subject i am not helpful with so I thought we all learn together.

We just arrived home from 3 days in Budapest and has the best tour guide we have ever had! Vicki Azari with My Budapest did so much for us it made me feel like we had an assistant, tour guide, friend all wrapped up in one person. she listened to each our 4 person family and found an MMA gym, a virtual reality place for our grandsons and created an interesting, informative tour that engaged each us. Vicki arranged transportation and helped with local communications with airbnb’s to make sure each day was filled efficiently and with the best of Hungary. I can’t say enough about how she took care of all 4 of us.

This is great stuff, but I am shocked at the prices.

For Budapest Locals, the pricing for one person vs a small group was the same, I think (or additional group members did not add much). I took two solo tours with them, and the third tour I took my wife and adult son, and I "think" the price was the same...

I loved having a personal guide all to myself, I had never done that before, and I would prefer to never again go back to group tours.

Not complaining. Just shocked. I hire a guide every few years for somehting. Its gotten expensive, but it must have jumped a lot since my last guide. I will never forget my first guide. Great guy. 23 years ago, 90 euro for 12 hour driven tour of the Danube Bend towns. Excpetional. And he was expensive back then.

Here is another that I have heard about for years, but never tried: https://www.myguideinbudapest.hu/about
