We are travelling w with kids and will stop for a day at Budapest and wanted to enquire about the Thermal baths. It seems a loittle expensive, but has good reviews. Any advice from experienced users here, is highly appreciated.
THanks a lot

Depends on when you are going.
I enjoyed the baths during a summer trip when it was busy and the outside area and pools were worth a visit. Not sure how much the kids would enjoy an inside only visit. You & the kids might prefer one of the massive water parks and thermes in Germany if visiting there is part of you plans.
This thread has great information, including links to a couple of additional threads.

Christy has great advice and instructions.
You don’t say how old your children are, so check age restrictions.
I think it is 14 and older allowed in.
I went in October and really enjoyed it. Only one of the outdoor pools was open but all of the interior pools were open. It was crowded on a Friday. They no longer rent towels and flip flops. shoes are required. So to save money I would recommend bringing a bathing suite, towel and flip flops for everyone. Enjoy
Hi,
I went twice in the middle of November, 2024 to Szechenyi and it was fantastic! One day it was about 52 degrees (F) and the second day it was about 34 (F) and I loved both the exterior and interior pools. It was remarkable to be outside in just a pair of shorts at that time of year, float on my back, and stare up at the bright blue sky.
I brought my own shorts, towel and flip flops (the latter two I borrowed from my AirBnb). A friend from Germany met me there and she had to purchase a bathing suit. Neither of us brought bath robes - just wrapped our towels around us - but if you've packed one, it wouldn't hurt to bring it.
Using the lockers and the wrist band system was easy and there were no language barrier issues. However, before going, I read over about two-three times the section in Rick Steves' guide book describing the process, how to navigate the pools, etc. so it was a seamless adjustment for me. Most people brought their cameras/cell phones out to the exterior pools.
I went mid-week and was there about 8:00-8:30 A.M. each day and there were NO crowds at that time.
As for price, I do not recall - I want to say about $45 U.S.D(?). But that's a guess. To me it was absolutely worth it; a once in a lifetime (actually twice) event that I will never forget.
Good luck
We were there in late September last year and two outdoor pools were open as well as some indoor pools. One outdoor pool had a “river” that went around a the center of the pool. We were surprised at how strong the current was and I was laughing so hard going in circles. We took our bathing suits, Turkish towels and flip flops with us. We were on a 6 week trip with carry on bags and each had room for our towels.
The OP did not return with the ages of the kids. This is the bathhouse that caters to families with children: https://en.palatinusstrand.hu/ Had some friend from the states here about 6 months ago that took their children and said they had a wonderful time.
