I am planning a trip to Budapest this fall and while there I would like to visit several ancestral villages. Has anyone had any experience and/or recommendations in finding a driver that could drive us?

I have the guy for you. Actually two to choose from.
First, a driver, and just a driver. But a wonderful guy with a lot of knowledge and a true pleasure to travel with: His name is László MÁRKUS. We've used him a number of times and will many times in the future: http://www.silverwings.hu/ Pretty reasonable rates too.
Then there is the Driver / Guide option. If you want a tourist guide as well, then the man is Andras Illes. We've known and hired Andras for over a decade now. Very pleasant, knowledgable and professional. But with Andras you pay for a guide and not just a driver. By the way, his car is excellent. http://www.guideinbudapest.com/
