Does anyone have any suggestions of an interesting route in a rental car, driving from Budapest to Berlin. Is it easy to find places to stay as we pass through the towns.

If you're planning a one-way drive, check on the international drop charge before you spend too much time planning the route. It can be many hundreds of euros.

Thanks. I did find a pretty good deal on a car. We’ll be driving from May 11 until May 20 when we drop in Berlin.
