Study hungarian

Does anyone know of a school/institute/person where it is possible to study hungarian "for fun"? In Hungary.... thanks.

I grew up in a household where Hungarian was always spoken. Sadly, as the older generation is no longer here to keep the mother tongue alive, my Hungarian is very rusty! When I was visiting last year I felt like I was speaking like a 5 year old! It did improve however! I’m hoping the language lesson pay off for Mr. E and I hope to have a wonderful conversation with him in Hungarian soon!!

It’s not a language I would choose to learn for “fun”!

Good luck Linda!

Prairiegirl, thank you but you and I will never have a conversation in Hungarian. Not if I take a 100 lessons. I am just linguistically challenged. I take the lessons under duress.

Hearing Spanish on the tram in Budapest yesterday felt like hearing English to me after hearing so much Hungarian. Our tour guide said Hungarian ranks as the third toughest language to learn.

Some Americans here and there, but lots of Spanish for sure. Last night at the fireworks a few Americans, and met an Australian whose dad was a 1956 refugee.

In Budapest, try Mr É suggestion. They have some great immersion courses that are on my bucket list.

If you're looking for something online, and more "fun" try: https://thehungarianstore.com/

They have some great classes using the MagyarOK language materials.
