Ritz-Carlton Budapest

We're about 2 months from our trip. Thank you again to those who shared feedback earlier on hotels.
I am wondering if any of you have stayed at or know about the Ritz-Carlton. I would expect it to be top notch.
And yes, expensive. However, I am asking for opinions as I received a great offer (comparable price as the Marriott -- and they will include Breakfast! -- which seems to make it a no-brainer).

Appreciate any feedback.

Steve, the Marriott location provides some of the most stunning views in town. The Ritz is pretty well located for sightseeing, though. It is in a location that is a tad touristy, but a short walk out fixes that. You could do a lot worse.

Steve,
I don't have personal experience at the RC in Budapest, but an American friend recently stayed there for several nights and absolutely loved it. I've stayed at other RC properties before and this is comparable. A Hungarian friend has also provided two thumbs up for the food as well.

A good offer with breakfast? Absolutely take that offer! The location is quite convenient. You will love it.

Thank you Pat; I just updated the title of my topic. That was a silly oversight on my part.

Thank you Mister E. I had the opportunity to first see Budapest about 20 years on two work trips. Back then, I stayed once at the Marriott and once at the Intercontinental.

Thank you Christy. Yes I am a Bonvoy member. I think that may be why such a great offer came my way.

Twenty years ago, about when I started coming, I belive the Ritz building was a police station.

The W Budapest is also a Marriott hotel if that is of interest. Stunning hotel and one of the most enjoyable locations in town, but I dont think the service will live up to the potential.

I love the history of these things so, first is was a retirment home for railroad executives (they lived well), then the commies converted it into a national ballet academy which it remained I belive until about 2000. When the commies left, all the properties became the property of the City. The District VI mayor sold it very cheap to foreign investors. Later it was discovered that the a large sum of money appeared in his personal bank account and so the building languished for decades. Now beautifully restored as the W Hotel. Here are some wonderful period photos: https://mahlerfoundation.org/mahler/locations/hungary/budapest/reitter-cafe/ and today: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/budwh-w-budapest/photos/ On a pretty day I will go and have a remarkably expensive beer on the front porch, just for the atmosphere.

And I think if you ask about the Ritz-Carlton in the HUNGARY forum, its pretty self explainatory in which country and city you are enquiring.

Thank you Pat (I was naively assumptive, yet your point is valid)
And once again a huge thank you to Mister E!
