Restaurant recommendations in Budapest.

Two couples are planning a trip for the Hungarian Grand Prix in July, 2026. I’m pretty sure the city will be buzzing! We are staying at 4 Kossouth Lajos, 1053. Please tell me places that you have enjoyed in any category….coffee and pastries, cheap street food, traditional Hungarian specialties, great places to have a drink with a nice view, anything you have loved!

You are a bit removed from anywhere on the list Mardee linked, but that can be remedied with some good public transportation and some walking.

You ARE by Auguszt Cukrászda for pastries and coffee: see if they have inner courtyard seating available. Café Gerbeaud for more pastries, coffee, and history. Stika Gastropub for brunch in Pest and Franziska for brunch in Buda.

Try Street Food Karavan Budapest for delicious langos - about a 12 min walk. And right beside that is Bors Gastrobar. There’s no real place to sit but I love getting their soup and bringing it back to the apartment.

I always like a dinner on the river at Duna Corso - get a reservation and ask for a table closest to the river. Porc & Presli is another I like.

You might want to do a wine tasting at Tasting Table Cellar. And good wine bars to sit outside and people watch would include Kadarka and Palack (and Dobolo for inside seating only).

There’s no shortage of great places to eat!

I obviously clicked the wrong link so I deleted it; TexasTravelMom did it correctly. But even that list is sort of heavy on District VI restaurants. I am playing catchup on life today, but will come back to this with some ideas in the next day or two.

Maybe not what you came to Budapest for, but remember you are in a large world-class city, and some of the best of everything can be found. https://maps.app.goo.gl/cTovubDko3DJi1Mz5.

A start.

See if any of those are interesting. TexasTravelMom suggested some public transportation and walking was going to be in order because of where you are staying. She's correct; but my favorite Thai place in town isn't far. Otherwise not a location rich in Budapest culture. If any we listed light your fire, say so and I suspect you will get some more suggestions.
