We are going to Budapest in October. What is the impact of the refugee influx on tourism.

Chances are any refugees will be hustled through Budapest to other places and countries. This great city is very dependent on tourism, and they're not going to allow refugee migration to get in the way.
We were in Scandinavia last week, and the biggest television news subject was the displaced Syrian refugees and boat people coming over from North Africa. It's a very serious problem that's not likely to be solved in the near future.

I will be there tomorrow. Based on conversations I have had with friends that live there I am not expecting any impact if I avoid Keleti train station.
I am in Belgrade today. I have enjoyed Belgrade more than any of my trips to Vienna. Best of all, Air Serbia to Budapest was under 100 euro. A great option if you are visiting Budapest. The bay of Kotor in Montenegro is only another 45 minute flight from Belgrade and also about 100 euro. Also a spectacular destination.
