Opera House

We are about to purchase tickets for a BALLET in Budapest Opera House.
Can you recommend which seats are better?
I am wondering if orchestra seats are elevated. I am short (5.2) and constantly worry that I won't be able to see. I would buy box seats but I think I have to buy 4 seats. And I need 2.

Thank you!

Yes, the orchestra seats are elevated some. But like most theaters, not enough that if you get a tall person in front of you you'll be able to see over them. The orchestra seats are offset from one row to the next so that you should be viewing between the shoulders of the 2 people slightly left and slightly right in front of you. You should be able to see this when you look at the seat map to buy your tickets.

We had Row 10, seats 11 and 12 and I liked the view for our ballet. One row back might be better for both of you to be directly in the center. Of course row choice is a matter of preference and from what angle and distance you want to view the performance.

When you look at a seat map for the opera house, be sure to look at the 2023/2024 version. There are older seat maps out there from before the theater renovation. You'll know you're looking at the correct map if the stalls are one big section, with no aisles. If there are aisles, it's an out of date seat map.

When you purchase the tickets on the Opera House site, I can not help but assume that the seating chart that comes up for you to select seats from is accurate.
