If you had only one July Tuesday afternoon and evening in Budapest what would you do?
I'd find the grunge bars and go door to door. They're about as good as it gets.
Might make a walk down by the river at sunset and see the legislature building at night.
Ruin Pubs!!! Not Grunge Bars!!!
I would spend the afternoon in the market hall and then use the 2 Tram to see the shoes memorial and parliament (front and back) and maybe cross to Buda on the 4/6 tram to see the view of the Parliament (or time permitting walk across the chain bridge to the Buda side) and i would spend the evening dining on the Pest Corso.....
Hi Liz,
Here's my idea: a stop at St. Stephen's Basilica, then head to the Parliament Building, walk on the shore of the Danube heading towards the chain bridge and then walk across the bridge and head up to the castle - beautiful views, then continue to Fishermen's Bastion - my favorite view across to see the Parliament building.
Two spots for some treats and food:
On the Pest side by the Danube - http://www.szegedihalaszcsarda.hu/ Hungarian fish stews, they have other dishes too. Check out the menu.
On the Buda side near the Matthias Church is the old world cafe, Ruszwurm - Address is Szentharomsag utca 7.
Have a wonderful time there.
Arrivinh to train station or airport? Spending the night?
