Opus Jazz Club - Dessert Only?

Hi folks,

I'm headed to Budapest soon for 4 nights with my Mom who loves live music but not bars. I saw the Opus Jazz Club mentioned a few times and it looks interesting but the menu isn't really our thing. Would it be possible or frowned upon to go only for drinks and dessert?

If that's not an option, is there any other food venues that aren't expensive or "fancy" with live music? We're planning on going to Porc & Prezli for lunch, but I'm thinking the music would only be at night?

Thank you!

PQ

Last time I went the food was pretty exceptional. But sure. The concert and the menu are two different things. So order what you want.

Check your PMs for some other places.

DINNER AND MUSIC OR A SHOW
Just a few and a pretty broad cross section from traditional to .... well .... unique. The list just scratches the surface. The number of restaurants that continues to have a violin, or more, is pretty great. Off the top of my mind, not on the list is Kiraly100 and Gundel and Százéves Étterem all of which generally have a violin and more. Százéves Étterem and Kiraly100 are two of my favorite.

Thanks so much Mr E! When you say the concert and the menu is separate, is there a fee to enter and then whatever you order?

Thanks again!

I assume your last question was about the Opus Jazz Club. I have only been once, but bought my ticket online for the show and went early intending to eat. Which I did. Other people came in gradually up until show time. I think the expectation is that you would order at least a drink since all seating is at tables. But I did not get the feeling that everyone was there for a full meal. I’d say if you are planning on drinks and dessert, it would not be a problem.

I haven’t tried Budapest Jazz Club yet. You might see if there is anything appealing on at Spinoza while you are there. http://spinoza.hu/

From the Opus ticket purchasing page:

We recommend arriving at 7 p.m. for our dinner guests.

They go on to say that reservations are held until 8 PM. So that suggests that dinner is not required, and no mention of a minimum, which one would expect in the States. So drinks etc. should be fine.

No, its not required to eat. The performance is one ticket, the meal, if you have one, is another bill. But the food was very, very good last time I was there. Then its best to finish the eating before the show......
