Not receiving registration confirmation from Hungarian Rail web site

Hello,

I have been attempting to purchase tickets through the Hungarian Rail website. I registered on the site, but I have not received the confirmation e-mail in order to activate the account. I have tried this with two of my email addresses and have not received a confirmation email for either. Has anyone else had this problem? workarounds? Would emailing via their customer support link help? Thank you in advance for any insights out there.

The MAV site is miserable on most counts. There is one gentleman that posts here from time to time that successfully navigated it last year. With luck he will see your post. I travel on the Hungarian trains from time to time but I always buy the tickets when I get there. I did have instance where I assisted a friend, but we ended up call the help number. They were polite and very helpful. I have since suggested the same on a couple of occasions and those that did had positive results. The people are good, the web site and the system is less so.....

I sent customer support an email, hopefully they can help. Otherwise, I guess I can call them on Monday.

You may save a few euros buying on line, but worst case you will have no problem purchasing them in Budapest. I hope you are staying in town for a few days prior to going to Vienna. If so purchase them the day you arrive so you will sleep better. Tell me where you are staying and I will give you directions to the station. If you are getting off a boat and immediately taking the train to Vienna, this is a sign from above that you should reconsider. And don't be afraid to call MAV. With most phone services a 10 minute phone call from the US will cost $6. Remember the time zone differences.
