No opera playing when I am in Budapest

I was planning on going to the opera during my stay in mid september. It looks like I am going to miss the opera and wanted some advice on perhaps another suggestion. Is there any other show I can see while I am there that might come even close to the opera? Thank you in advance.

Quite so , as World advises . We attended the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Ivan Fischer at The Palace of the Arts in the Autumn of 2013 , Absolutely BRILLIANT performance and some of the best ensemble playing I have ever heard . Don't miss a chance to hear this fine orchestra !

"Mid September" wasn't much to run with so I couldn't look up anything for you. But also check the Budapest Operett Theater. I really enjoy their productions (going to see the musical "MOZART!" this evening. Probably my favorite of the 8 or 9 productions we have seen at the theater. You might also check the Liszt Academy http://zeneakademia.hu/home Not much listed for September yet, but September is technically the next season so continue to watch the website and see if more shows up. Buy any tickets as early as possible for the best seats as good seats sell very fast in all of the venues.

we just arrived home from seeing Katya Tompos at the Opus Jazz Club. Absolutely outstanding performance in an absolutely outstanding venue. Even the food was top notch as was the service. FANTASTIC evening.

We just got back from Budapest and we struck out for the Opera as well. We did a show at the Liszt Academy, which was very reasonably priced, enjoyable, and in a great location. We were somewhat underdressed, but I don't like to check bags so I was not about to bring a suit...

Anyway, I just wanted to echo the sentiments expressed above and confirm that it's a great nighttime activity
