May in Budapest

If I remember correctly there are some going to Budapest in April / May. We will be there the 1st through the 10th (I know, too short, buy I have to work). We have a guest this time so I've begun looking for things to do to make it special for her.

So far I've found:

great concerts at Opus Jazz Club, MUPA and Budapest Jazz Club.

,

Falk Miska utca has an event to showcase the art galleries and antique shops; with food and music in the street on the 5th of May.

.

The Saturday morning farmers market at the Hunyadi ter market hall is always an experience as are the vendors Saturday and Sunday at the Gozsdu udvar.

.

I'll post more as I find it.

Thanks, James. I'm currently expecting to be in and out of Budapest between May 2 and May 21. Much to see in Hungary.

I'll be arriving on May 15th and flying to Munich on the 21st--I chose that time-frame specifically so I could attend the wonderful Museum Festival that I found by accident in 2016--it's on the lovely grounds of the National Museum, free, with great food, music and crafts, and booths from many museums throughout Hungary.

I see there's also a Gourmet Festival the 17th-20th at Millenaris Park on the Buda side.

I wish I could be there for the Falk Miska event, I do enjoy poking around in the shops there.

Christa, one reason I set up my time in Hungary the way I did is because of your earlier post about the Museum Festival. I'm sure it will be fun.

I'm wondering about the WAMP Design Fairs, which apparently take place approximately monthly. It seems that both the dates and the locations are not announced very far in advance. http://wamp.hu/en ,

I did attend a WAMP show, the same year I found the Museum Festival on a very hot Sunday--I had a list of 4 events, all craft and antique-related, and 2 of them weren't happening after all. I found the Gozsdu udvar market, interesting mix of funky stuff, and WAMP was at Erszebet ter and rather interesting--all hand-made items, quality and kind of hipster-ish. After that I was still too early to get into my hotel room so headed back to the general neighborhood, exiting at Kalvin ter and walking past the museum-- then I smelled the food and heard the music at the festival and ended up spending 3 hours there, mingling with the locals.
