hello. my wife and i will be in Budapest first week of Sept and want to visit a bath where we can also enjoy a massage. Szechenyi and Gellert strangely have zero appts available for online booking on both 9/4 & 9/5. very surprising this far in advance. does anyone have any information or thoughts on why this may be and possibly other worthwhile options. thank you.
You can try Lukacs Baths. Its a very local sort of place. But some tourists. Convenient location.
You can try Rudas Baths. I hear very nice. Never been. Part of it is over 500 years old. Again, convenient location.
Here is a list of most of the baths in town: https://www.spasbudapest.com/baths
Then there are a few hotels that are well known for their spas ... or I know a top notch Thai Salon in town by the Opera House.
Mr E,
thank you for this information. can you tell me why at least two of the baths/spas on your linked list would not even have their September calendar open for ticket or massage purchase at this time? do some baths close for September? we are having a very unsuccessful time of trying to book bath and massage for our time in the city. Thank You.
I think i saw open appointments in Sept at Gellert, Szechenyi and Rudas? Not a lot and depends on what you want and by who.
It's part of the culture and the locals compete with the tourists for the appointments. Booking is only about 30 days prior so you have to move fast when your date is open.
I didn't try, but you might also try searching on the Hungarian language website. There is at least one place in town that hides stuff from tourists.
