We are looking for the names of individuals who offer a market tour (sampling and purchasing ingredients) followed by a cooking class, of course followed by eating the meal. Originally had a person who offered this service out of their Home/Apartment but covid has caused them to cease operations. We will be in Budapest mid March.
The name and email contact info is appreciated.
PM me and let's see what I can find for you. I am guessing the canceled one is Agnes?
1 https://easycookingbudapest.com/ is the only other one I have spoken to people who have attended (but that was quite a few years ago); it is right at the Great Market Hall.
2 But its hard to beat Agnes.
3 If you might be in Budapest after mid-October and if you are interested in a very informal class in an actual Hungarian apartment; but Ukrainian food, not Hungarian ... I have a suggestion for that as well (there is some overlap and variations on similar themes)
For Mister E (aka James E): my friend and I (both women in our 70’s) will be in Budapest for two days (Nov. 19 & 20th) before beginning a Danube cruise. Will you please share the info about the in-home/apartment Ukrainian food informal ‘class’. You’re welcome to message me directly. The two of us shared an at-home meal with a family in Israel and it was a highlight of our trip there. So interesting to talk with people who live in a city, not just the tour guides. I really appreciate all the information about Budapest that you’ve shared on this site. Thank you!
1 The woman in question I call Kate because I don’t want to fool with Ekateryna.
2 Kate and her two young boys arrived in Budapest from Kyiv in mid-April …. Dad stays behind to what is important right now.
3 I met them because they are living in the flat next to the one I use in town ……….. beautiful family and she is a good cook.
4 They have a family hardship in Kyiv and returned a few weeks ago but promised to be back before I get there 15 November (I hope she does because I am worried for them).
5 She and the boys have learned Budapest in these few short months better than I know it after 20 years; she was a guide in Kyiv and maybe knows what to look for (I will use that for an excuse).
