We will be picking up a car in Budapest (downtown location, not airport) for travel through Croatia and Slovenia, and then returning in Budapest before flying home. There is a significant price difference through Auto Europe between Buchbinder and Avis (Buchbinder is about $600 less for what we're looking for). Any experience with Buchbinder? If there is an issue with the car in Slovenia or Croatia are there local stations where we can switch out the car?
Since web links for Buchbinder outside of Germany mostly point back to Auto Europe (such as http://www.autoeurope.eu/booking/car.cfm?aff=buchbinderde), they are probably the best people to call up and ask about breakdown policies. I don't think there will be many resources actually branded as Buchbinder in Slovenia or Croatia. When I use that link to search for cars at Dubrovnik airport, for instance, Buchbinder is not an option. And the Budapest franchise may also be quite separate from the larger German operation.
How many days? When you get it all worked out, please let us know your total cost for rental, gas, vignettes, parking, etc. And no problem with renting a car to drive from the EU to Croatia? Dont know why there would be, just asking...
