I recently caught the season 2 finale of Ransom—why? Because it was set in Budapest, of course! Lots of familiar places, starts with the classic Parliament on the right shot that also shows Margit sziget.

Yes, my main reason for seeing Red Sparrow was the Budapest scenery.

I just saw a wonderful movie last night called Budapest Noir, based on the novel by Vilmos Kondor. It was released in 2017 but as is often the case doesn't show up here til later, and it was shown as part of The Jewish Film Festival at the Castro theatre in San Francisco--bonus points for seeing it in a gorgeous old theatre. Budapest is as much a character as any of the actors--kind of like Vienna in The Third Man--and it's an entertaining and suspenseful murder mystery. Subtitled, always fun to compare what they're saying with the subtitles based on my small bit of Hungarian. And the scenery, of course, made me long to return yet again to Budapest!
