Diane, we only spent a couple of days because of all the bad press and we sort of felt cheated once we got there and realized we didn't have enough time or a Plan B to extend our time in Bucharest. But I'm not a great guide for the place. This website is pretty good. http://www.romaniatourism.com/bucharest.html I will tell you that the old castle basements, the Synagogue and the Lipscani District (under re-construction when we were there) is among our best memories. We also used a private guide to take us through the countryside for a few days. Excellent gentleman that has remained a friend to this day: Daniel Gheorghita http://covinnus.com/
Going to Romania is best described as Central Europe through the side bedroom casement window with vertical mini-blinds on an August afternoon
