Itinerary first day Budapest?

We're going to be in Budapest for 3 days before heading to Vienna. I'm wondering how much to plan for our arrival day since it'll be about 2 PM by the time we check into our hotel. That seems too late to start on Rick's day #1, 3-day itinerary, though we could do part of it. We're staying at Chestnut & Eliza suites in Pest.

My thoughts for the first day, starting about 2:00: Parliament, Fisherman's Bastion, Danube Legend evening cruise. Is that reasonable? The second day I'd focus on downtown Pest and do the Szecheyi baths, and the third day the synagogue area and anything else we can fit in. Any restaurant recommendations also welcome!

That looks reasonable. You need to buy tickets in advance to go inside the Parliament. Matthias Church is right next to Fisherman's Bastion and is well worth going inside, very beautiful.

If you are staying in District V, that would be an excellent idea. Take the 2 Tram up to the Parlaiment (but you dont have to go inside this day), then cross the Margrit Island bridge on the 4/6 tram and go down river on the 19/41 Tram to the Funicular and take it up to Castle Hill. Afterwards you walk down (or the Funicular) about 6 pm and walk across the bridge to your hotel to get ready for the cruise. But this works best if you are staying in District V. Sounds like a lot of tram riding but the views are spectacular and its a good tour for that alone.

If you are staying in District VI, then I would suggest its a better day to do Andrassy ut, Opera Tour, House of Terror maybe, With out the House of Terror and the Opera tour, then you could add the Basilica to the day.
