I am taking a day to go to Romania from Budapest, however Bahn says there may be a tariff for int'l travel. Anyone know what the tariff charge costs? I can't find the amount online. How about the return trip. I am going to Brasov.

A day? You might want to check the Hungarian rail site. In particular pay attention to the travel durations

Yup just a day. I am only going to one place. Arriving the night before, spending the day then leaving. I already have my travel times. For where i'm going there are 3 trains per day to and from. Asking me my itinerary really didn't help me, but thanks anyway.
@Laura via Rick Steves...I have actually purchased a Eurail Pass since I will be doing a lot of traveling this trip. How does the tariff apply to someone who already has a pass and won't be buying tickets upon arrival?
