HUF denominations

I'm getting 33,000 HUF pocket money before we go. What denominations do you recommend that we should request? Thank you.

1,000 bills are obviously the easiest to use but if you can’t get 33 of those, then get 5,000 bills. The 10,000 bills are less useful for small purchases that you would most likely be using cash for.

The direct answer 5.000 ft notes and smaller are most appreciated but it's rare that anyone had an issue with a 10.000 ft note. If the money is fot tipping, then you want 1.000 ft and 500 ft notes and 200 ft and 100 ft coins.

Or wait till you come and draw 19.000 out of an ATM. Then use the 10.000 ft bill you will get for your first 1.100 ft beer and you will have the perfect change in your pocket.

You don't really need to show up with forints but I think it wise to get some in town when convenient and to have 10 or 20 thousand in your pocket for the unexpected. There are ATM machines all over town. Use Google Maps. I live here on a US credit card and a US ATM card. No problems at all.

Thanks,TexasTravelMom and Mr. E. Valuable and pertinent info. As far as drawing out currency at an ATM, I think it was TexasTravelMom who previously had recommended one by the Ritz Carlton. That's the one I'll try and use in Budapest, if necessary. Just trying to make it from Keleti to the hotel with as little stress as possible (thus the backup in pocket money). Thanks again to both of you.

Yes, there is a K&H outside the back door of the Ritz. But they are all over town. The one at the Ritz is a K&H and I sort of like those better as most of them take a touch card and you dont have to worry about your card getting eaten by a machine. I live here using my US ATM and Credit Card so that would be a bad thing for me. Here is google maps list of ATM in the area: https://www.google.com/maps/search/atm+near+ritz+carlton/@47.4979687,19.0539176,17.04z/data=!4m2!2m1!6e2?authuser=0&entry=ttu

I love telling this so sorry if its repetitive. But if there is a door to the ATM, it pushes in, it does not pull out. Ooops. No door to the Ritz ATM: https://www.google.com/maps/@47.4972447,19.0535462,3a,35.7y,286.5h,79.24t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sx8ORhFNuTzApmIQ2jl3reg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3Dx8ORhFNuTzApmIQ2jl3reg%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.share%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26yaw%3D286.50068823123803%26pitch%3D10.763174285030118%26thumbfov%3D90!7i13312!8i6656?authuser=0&coh=205410&entry=ttu

Thanks very much for the link. I am familiar with the ATM push-in, pull out dilemma from reading your other posts. Very much appreciated.
