When I travel at least, I want to be in the thick of what I am there for so I can learn from, experience and capitalize each moment. From my perspective Budapest is a place to be experienced as opposed to “visited” so I think you want to be in a location that puts you “in Hungary” while still a stone’s throw from the tourism. Thanks to the surface trams and short walks this is possible in Budapest. So……… look at this: http://1drv.ms/1Ji1bD4 From any of the areas identified you can get to the docks in 15 minutes by either or some combination of foot or tram or metro line. And best of all, its very, very easy and unintimidating.

And five nights is a great decision.

Chain Bridge vs the Train Station (any of them) BUT, as beautiful as the bridge is, especially in the evening, I'm not a big fan of staying in District V; unless its a 5 Star hotel you want to stay in. The Four Seasons is always ranked among the very best hotels in Europe. I like the Le Meridian too. Otherwise I like parts of Districts VI and VII as it puts you in touch with less touristy more Hungarian experiences without compromising access to the major sights. I generally don't recommend hotels because everyone has different desires in a hotel, but all other things being equal I like the K&K Opera. There are also some interesting hotels in the lower end of District VII. Go to google maps, google that address I have on the attachment above, then enter in "Hotel" and most of the major hotels near that address will pop up. Research them, go to street view and take a look around. AND, if you see something interesting come back to the forum with the name and maybe we can tell you something about the hotel and / or the neighborhood.
