We are planning to stay at the Hotel Casati next spring. Does anyone know the status of all the construction nearby, either as a guest at the hotel or having spent time in the area recently? Traveling with an elderly relative and noise and chaos will be an issue for us.
I live a 3 minute walk away and go past it to visit Bob's Kitchen at least once a week (Scottish / English restaurant). Nothing has changed. Honestly I dont knoe what yiu can hear from thr rooms, probably noy much, but its not a very lovely or pleasant street environment.
There are actually two hotels being built on the street. One immediately adjacent to the Casati, the other a couple hundred meters further down the street. Tought street to walk down right now. Not that you have to if you stay there as Adrassy ut is one bock over. Used to be sweet and will be agin when the work is done. A total of 3 apartment blocks being converted to do it.
Thanks for your feedback. I saw your posts in 2024 and wondered where things stood. Will rebook somewhere else.
It's a shame. Great location. Try and stay in the same area. There is a post on the forum with well located hotels.
Found it: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/hungary/rs-forum-favorite-hotels-and-their-cost
The Casati people own the Cortile which is the same sort of adults only theme, but maybe a younger audience with the rooftop party pool bar. Its sort of on the fringe of a good location. Another that has some of the same vibe (its my perception) as the Casati is:
Three Corners (4.9) https://threecorners.com/budapest/avenue-hotel/
Very good location.
Hi all! My husband and I are booked at the Casati in February - should I book somewhere else? What sort of construction are we talking about?
I will take a photo tomorrow. (I live very near). I wouldn't stay there in part because there are as good at the same price with no construction? But its a choice thing and tjere is no wrong.
Thanks! I did a lot of research before deciding on th Casati. The location and vibe seem what I’m looking for.
The location is pretty hard to beat. The street never was the prettiest but with the constuction a bit more .... ehhhh .... but, you chose well otherwise. Here it is along with a few of my favorite activities: https://maps.app.goo.gl/csFzBDMAihxzwNgk7
Heck, I dont have to take a photo. Here (nothing has changed):
- https://maps.app.goo.gl/5EgHJJFHztA8GCoC8 (the flags with the colored dots on them is the hotel)
- https://maps.app.goo.gl/AbhfZaNckDfKzvkY6 (look past the hotel and further down the street and you will see the next construction project .... means usually easier to walk over to Andrassy ut to get towards the river, but Andrassy ut is beautiful so not a bad thing)
- https://maps.app.goo.gl/NqyLyyEpTZKdMzch7 (looking from the opposite direction)
- https://maps.app.goo.gl/6RtzRARPGDJy4Y1y8 (from next construction site down the street looking back to the hotel. this one has changed as there is a tower crane now).
What is sort of interesting about all of this, is that the district has banned short-term rentals next year but have allowed 4 apartment blocks to be gutted and converted to hotel rooms (over 400 rooms).
You might look at this hotel too:
and this one
Remember, I cant recommend hotels as I dont stay in them myself, but the locations are about the same as the Casati (which is very good) and the reviews on the first are good and the second one just opened and looks very nice.
Thanks for all that! I think I’m going to stick with the Casati.
I had asked you questions before about where we should go after Budapest. The current plan is Brno and then Vienna. I had been thinking Bratislava or Gyor but after some research Brno looks to have some interesting sights. Have you ever been?
I do think getting rid of rental apartments is a good thing, I’m not a fan of Airbnbs
