We’re taking a river cruise in October, that ends in Budapest. Our return flight is scheduled at 6:30 am, with a 2 hour layover in Amsterdam then 2 hours in Atlanta. Is that just the way flights from Budapest are, or should we press for a different flight itinerary?
Try Turkish Air.
They have a flight leaving Budapest at 9 am with one stop in Istanbul that goes directly to IAH (Houston).
Is the return flight being offered by the cruise operator? You can check other return options, but often the cruises flight offering is a good deal as they may have a blanket discount with a particular airline. But if you find something you like better, it can't hurt to ask.
First, check flight schedules and see what you can find. I don’t know if there better schedules. Second we found it was difficult to get back to Denver a few years ago after getting off a Viking cruise. Found a flight schedule out of Vienna that worked so caught the train to Vienna after a few extra days in BP.
If the fare is good, the Turkish Air flight is convenient. I've done it a few times. Then KLM and Lufthansa started flying out of Austin, and cheaper, so I haven't made the Houston drive in a few years. Any time I can eliminate a stop in the US I am all in for $200 or less. Istanbul Airport isn't half bad either.
Thanks all… appreciate your insights and experiences.
