Our overnight flight arrives in Budapest at 12:30pm Saturday. Any suggestions on how to best use the remainder of the day? We will be leaving the following Saturday in the early afternoon. Thank you.
What's the date and where are you staying?
We arrive later this month staying in Pest.
If your flight arrives at 12:30 and if you take the fastest and easiest way into town which is a taxi (about USD 30.00). Then you should be at your accommodations by 2:00 pm. Give you an hour to unpack and clean up and its 3:00 pm.
Generally, when we arrive in town after a hard overnight trip (not as young as I once was), we clean up then make an effort to get out and do something close to home and light. The idea is to push through until at least 10pm before bed. When we wake the next morning all jet lag is gone and we are ready to begin full steam.
I asked where you were staying so maybe I could give you some ideas in the immediate areas (Pest is very large) including some interesting places to eat nearby.
James could you send me a private message? I'd be happy to disclose.
Done. Hope it helps
James is the expert on Budapest but my 2 cents for what it's worth since we were just there Jan 2-6 is to do an evening river cruise. We didn't choose the dinner one, just an hour on the Danube. It was a beautiful start to our visit. By time we did that and ate dinner on our way back to the hotel (we stayed right next to the Opera) it was time to go to bed. The Parliament was one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen.
The evening cruises are great. We've done it with and without dinner. In the summer just make sure you are on the later cruise so you don't cook in the glass shell.
